I’ve said ‘yes’ to my hen party at the Ultimate Tribute Festival!
Musical memories to have and to hold
For 38-year-old bride-to-be Sandy, there was only one way to enjoy her hen do – surrounded by her nearest and dearest, singing along to her favourite songs from some of the world’s finest tribute acts. Here, she tells her story of what she and her girls are most looking forward to from the 2018 festival…
If music is the food of love, then what better way see out my last days before I’m made an honest woman out of (again!!) than by hosting my hen do at a tribute festival!? It’s like, all my favourite massive acts in one place. Imagine how much fun this is going to be!
I’m a sucker for tribute acts – and think some of them are even better than the originals. So this is just the place for us to come and let our hair down. And this one has acts from Adele, Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse, to Queen, Bon Jovi and Boy George (what a mix!). And I’ve seen some of the performers before – all these ones are really top-drawer entertainers, spanning the latest hits to classic anthems.
Honestly, just do a few YouTube searches and you’ll discover plenty of footage of what could very easily be the real-life acts; whether it’s their hair and makeup, stage presence or precision performances, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better line-up of all your favourite stars in one place at the same time.
We’re a 19-strong bridal squad and we’re in it for the whole three-day extravaganza
We’re seriously a 19-strong bridal squad and we’ve booked weekend tickets, so we’re in it for the whole three-day extravaganza. Colebrook is a beautiful, massive estate and I’ve been there before for an amazing festival called Alfresco, so I know what it’s like there. We’ve been told there’s more than 60 artists on the roster, so there’s tons to choose from, including Queen impersonators Mercury, who take to the main stage for Sunday’s headline set. Really hoping they do Radio Gaga.
It’s a boutique intimate festival, which suits me down to the ground. Not that we’ll have any youngsters in attendance (can you imagine!) , but the vibe is a laid-back, family-friendly one that welcomes music lovers of all ages. But my hens and I are far more interested in the music. That and dressing up. We are TOTALLY on board with the ‘dress like your favourite star’ thing.
As well as Queen, we’ve got the likes of ABBA, Bon Jovi, Madonna and Blondie to look forward to, not to mention Michael Jackson, George Michael and Prince, all of whom we’re so giddy to see that we can’t decide on a winner, no matter how many debates we get stuck into – and that’s just on the main stage!
With loads more to see on the second ‘Playback’ stage (Kylie, Whitney and Tina, anyone?), it’s set to be an utterly fabulous weekend of sun, sights and sounds to savour. And while I can’t wait to tie the knot with my soon-to-be hubby, this is certainly going to stand out as a personal highlight for many happy years to come.
